Auditions For Grades 4&5

PCK Auditions are as fair as humanly possible. In the lower grade productions, we host same song auditions. Meaning, every students sings the same song, but they are not expected to perform a memorized monolog as we do in Middle School. We've found these to be less intimidating for younger students who aren't yet as confident as those in the Middle School.

All students will have the opportunity to audition for roles in our productions. These auditions are closed, but, are held with a board of auditors present. All auditions are videoed for use of the audition board later on. This board may consists of Mrs. Myers, Mrs. Waltz, Mrs. Pack, and one additional member of the school staff community. All auditions will be graded against the rubric provided in the link below.

No students will be "cut" from the production. But, some will be chosen to have speaking parts. And, while disappointment natural, we do work very hard to ensure your child will get a role at PCK someday!! We are very careful about our casting and ensuring the same students don't get the same roles all the time! Remember, we are as fair as humanly possible~! We appreciate your support through this process!

If your student is chosen for a role, please help them to memorize their lines. If your student will be in the chorus, they still have MUCH to practice at home! Please remind them to keep practicing!

Character Auditions for Middle School

All students will have the opportunity to audition for roles in our Middle School productions. These auditions are closed, but, are held with a board of auditors present. All auditions are videoed for use of the audition board later on. This board consists of Mrs. Myers, Mrs. Waltz, Mrs. Pack, Mrs. Wald and one additional member of the community. All auditions will be graded against the rubric provided in the link below. To ensure fairness to all students, Mrs. Myers will not submit her rubrics for calculation when roles are cast. Roles are cast as a board, and announced in person the day before Winter Break. Students will be asked to prepare a song of choice, provide their own accompaniment (either youtube track or live accompaniment) and memorize and perform a monologue of any length.

Mrs. Myers objective is to get all students through the audition process with a positive experience. No students should ever feel that they missed out on opportunities for help, advice, counsel and if needed lessons. Some students take lessons privately with Mrs. Myers. Some students take lessons with other local educators. Regardless, Mrs. Myers treats all students fairly. Mrs. Myers will also be hosting several audition workshops prior to audition days to help students prepare. These workshops are open to all auditioning students.

Middle School Students Wanting Chorus ONLY Roles

Every year Mrs. Myers has several students who wish only to be apart of the show, and do not want to have a role. These students will still need to sign up for an audition, register for the elective, and pay the fee online. Though this audition is not a true audition, it will require singing some scales to check for range with Mrs. Myers, and to discuss any technique components that may arise through production. This gives Mrs. Myers the chance to assess and to place students in the appropriate chorus spots, so we don't have unintentional issues later on.
